Good Food

Ingredients

2 navel oranges
2 tablespoon(s) all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt, divided
1/4 teaspoon(s) freshly ground pepper
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, trimmed and tenders removed
1 cup(s) reduced-sodium chicken broth
1 tablespoon(s) canola oil
1 cup(s) white wine
1/2 cup(s) golden raisins
2 tablespoon(s) honey
1 3-inch cinnamon stick
1/2 cup(s) slivered almonds, toasted (see Tip)
Directions

Zest and juice 1 orange. Remove skin and white pith from other orange, then halve and slice. Reserve zest and juice separately from orange slices.
Combine flour, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and pepper in a shallow dish. Dredge chicken in flour, shaking off any excess. Transfer remaining flour to a small bowl, add broth, and whisk to combine.
Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add chicken and cook until browned, 3 to 4 minutes per side. Transfer to a plate. Add wine to pan and cook 1 minute. Add flour-broth mixture, reserved orange zest and juice, raisins, honey, cinnamon stick, and remaining 1/4 teaspoon salt; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer, return chicken and any accumulated juices to pan and cook, turning chicken once or twice, until an instant-read thermometer inserted into thickest part of meat registers 165 degrees F and sauce has thickened, 10 to 12 minutes.
Transfer chicken to a serving platter. Discard cinnamon stick. Spoon sauce over chicken and garnish with reserved orange slices and almonds.

Carb Servings: 2 1/2 fruit, 3 1/2 lean meat, 1 fat. Carbohydrate Servings: 2 1/2. Nutrition Bonus: Vitamin C (50% daily value), Magnesium (17% dv).

I do

indeed have the power to turn off...but is that living or embracing what It should be...what it could be....If we weren't so fearful of the possible and playing game out of self-preservation. Why are you here? Why did he bring you back to me? for what purpose?
Why are we here again?

Living Within Your Income

May 11, 2009

by Rick Warren

"Those who love money will never have enough. How meaningless to think that wealth brings true happiness! The more you have, the more people come to help you spend it. So what good is wealth—except perhaps to watch it slip through your fingers!" (Ecclesiastes 5:10-11 NLT)

When you spend more than you earn, you end up in tremendous stress. The Bible says, "Stupid people spend their money as fast as they get it" (Proverbs 21:20 TEV).

What motivates us to live beyond our means? Why do we spend ourselves into debt? Why are we rarely satisfied with what we have?

There are three myths that drive us into debt:

MYTH: Having more things will make me happier.

FACT: "Those who love money will never have enough. How meaningless to think that wealth brings true happiness!...So what good is wealth—except perhaps to watch it slip through your fingers!" (Ecclesiastes 5:10-11 NLT)

MYTH: Having more things will make me more important.

FACT: "Watch out and guard yourselves from every kind of greed; because your true life is not made up of the things you own, no matter how rich you may be" (Luke 12:15 TEV).

MYTH: Having more things will make me more secure.

FACT: "The Lord is like a strong tower, where the righteous can go and be safe. Rich people, however, imagine that their wealth protects them like high, strong walls around a city" (Proverbs 18:10-11 TEV).

When we buy into these myths, we always overspend. So, here's how to enjoy life more on less:

• Find happiness in helping others. Jesus said, "There is more happiness in giving than in receiving" (Acts 20:35 TEV). Just look around you and you'll see this is true. The happiest people are those who help the most, not those who have the most. Misers are always miserable.

• Find self-worth by getting to know God. God says, "...you are precious to me..." (Isaiah 43:4 TEV). You matter to God. He made you for a purpose. Genuine self-esteem comes from establishing a relationship with God and becoming all he meant for you to be.

• Find security in trusting God, not a bank balance. The Bible says, "Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, 'I will never leave you; I will never abandon you'" (Hebrews 13:5 TEV). Real security must be found in something that can never be taken from you. While there are many ways to lose your possessions, Jesus said God will take care of you if you trust Him.

Work Thoughts...

1. The ______Buyer told me today the collection I designed is too pretty and fashion forward for our customer
2. I took it as a compliment
3. My sales guy didn't...
4. So does it really mean we can't be progressive in our designing because the Buyer doesn't think our customer is ready for fashionable and pretty things?
5. "The Buyer writes the orders Nicole"
6. "So the buyer is really our head-designer?":-/
7. I think in every creative arena it's a constant battle between true creativity/the integrity of the art and the pressure to conform to normality just to make a dollar...
8. I’m just saying

Thoughts...

As I venture off into different areas of the Arts...I'm realizing more and more it takes a strong sense of self, confident and self-assurance...because when your in a real place of creativity, a deep intuitive place from inside of yourself..it may not be out there yet and if no one has never seen it..they're less likely to accept it at first...but when you show that you are sure what your doing is dope, then you show the audience they can be sure what your doing is the next best thing too! I'm just saying

Making your mark on the world is hard. If it were easy, everybody would do it. But it's not. It takes patience, it takes commitment, and it comes with plenty of failure along the way. The real test is not whether you avoid this failure, because you won't. it's whether you let it harden or shame you into inaction, or whether you learn from it; whether you choose to persevere.-BARACK OBAMA

Calling All ACCESSORIES!!

Are we looking at Fall Fashions already....YES!
It's strong "Style Rollover" happening which mean it's a style or item that was introduce in a previous season and it's will be hot AGAIN in a up and coming season or the very next season. This means if you bought it last season...KEEP IT!
In the Fall 2009 Report we're seeing alot of "Shoe Boots", "Short boots" and/or "Booties" I'm sure you fashion leader out there bought a pair or two in 2008 when Booties first started getting popular on the scene. Well they're coming back for fall in a new creative diverse way; from sporty to romance driven to futuristic treatment and fabrics. Let's take a look at what some of our favorite designers are doing for 2009 "Calling All ACCESSORIES" report by Nicole Lyricc.

Sometimes you have to encourage yourself!

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.” Jeremiah 29:11-12
