7 Pounds

Should see it twice for the full effect!

Great Movie!!!

Word of the Day

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” 2 Timothy 4:3-4

The Worst Mall Foods in America

WORST "HEALTHY" SNACK
Starbucks
Cranberry Flax Muffin
410 calories
17 g fat (1 g saturated)
57 g carbs
32 g sugars

SUGAR EQUIVALENT: 3 Scoops of Breyers All Natural Butter Pecan Ice Cream

This sneaky muffin sounds so harmless—how can you go wrong with cranberries and flax? But it's got as many calories as Starbucks' more sinful-sounding scones, and its shockingly high amounts of sugar won't do your blood-sugar levels any favors, especially if you're at risk of diabetes and trying to cut back. If you're going for a light and healthy breakfast with your morning coffee, choose the Banana Loaf instead, and save 150 calories and 13 grams of sugars.

Eat This Instead:
Banana Loaf
260 calories
10 g fat (1 g saturated)
39 g carbs
19 g sugars

WORST SMOOTHIE
Jamba Juice
Peanut Butter Moo'd 24 oz
800 calories
21 g fat (6 g saturated)
131 g carbs
115 g sugars

SUGAR EQUIVALENT: 12 scoops of Breyers All Natural Mint Chocolate Chip

Maybe it's called a "Moo'd" because drinking 800 calories as a snack will make you feel like a cow. The calories aren't the only problem, though. In addition to increasing your blood sugar levels (making you more susceptible to diabetes), researchers from Duke University found that eating too many sugars and carbohydrates may also harm your liver. While the sugar content in the Strawberry Nirvana isn't ideal, it's a major improvement (plus it all comes from natural sources).

Drink This Instead:
Strawberry Nirvana 16 oz
170 calories
0 g fat
36 g carbs
30 g sugars

WORST MALL FOOD IN AMERICA
Quizno's
Large Tuna Melt Club (with cheese and dressing)
1,820 calories
147 g fat (27 g saturated, 1.5 g trans)
2,020 mg sodium
85 g carbs

CALORIC EQUIVALENT: 12 Taco Bell Fresco Style Beef Tacos!

Tuna off the grill or straight from the can is perfectly healthy; tuna drowning in mayonnaise, blanketed in melted cheese, and slicked with oily dressing is decidedly not. Not only does this sandwich carry with it nearly an entire day's worth of calories and sodium, it also contains as much fat as 49 strips of bacon. Ouch.

Eat This Instead:
Small Tuna Melt (no cheese, no dressing)
500 calories
33 g fat (5 g saturated)
630 mg sodium
37 g carbs

WORST NACHOS
La Salsa
Chicken Nachos
1,600 calories
83 g fat (35 g saturated)
2,510 mg sodium
148 g carbs

SODIUM EQUIVALENT: 15 bags of Lay's Potato Chips!

Even if you split it with a friend, that's still more fat, carbs, and calories than you should be consuming in a meal, let alone an appetizer. Eat it alone and you'd have to run 11 miles to burn off all the calories from this one hulking mound. And the sky-high sodium content qualifies these nebulous nachos for one of the saltiest foods in America.

Eat This Instead:
Nothing. The next best appetizer is the salsa and chips, which still rings in at 700 calories. Your best bet would be to save room for the main course—with many of their dishes topping a thousand calories, you'll need all the space you can get!

WORST SALAD
Quizno's
Roasted Chicken with Honey Mustard Flatbread Salad
1,110 calories
74 g fat (14.5 g saturated, 0.5 g trans)
2,030 mg sodium
70 g carbs

CALORIC EQUIVALENT: 5 packages Reese's Peanut Butter Cups!

Think salads are a safe bet? Think again. Some of America's very worst meals come in leaf form, and Quizno's exploits the healthy reputation of greens more thoroughly than anyone; half the salads on the menu top 1,000 calories. Unfortunately, all meal-size salads are out, so if you're in search of something legitimately healthy, order a side salad and a cup of soup.

Eat This Instead:
Side Chopped Salad with Reduced Fat Buttermilk Ranch
125 calories
9 g fat (0 g saturated)
655 mg sodium
14 g carbs

1 Peter 5:8-11 (Amplified Bible)
5:8 Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour.

5:9 Withstand him; be firm in faith [against his onset--rooted, established, strong, immovable, and determined], knowing that the same (identical) sufferings are appointed to your brotherhood (the whole body of Christians) throughout the world.

5:10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace [Who imparts all blessing and favor], Who has called you to His [own] eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will Himself complete and make you what you ought to be, establish and ground you securely, and strengthen, and settle you.

5:11 To Him be the dominion (power, authority, rule) forever and ever. Amen (so be it).

Don't try to take such a great idea...

This weekend we had "Martin Party"..LOL...LOL and yes it was lots of laughs!!

We had a couple people for the show make some very special appearances!!!

Bob (Thomas): A white man who worked in the marketing department of Gina's company who is best described as a stereotypical surfer-dude-cum-redneck. He spoke in a Southern Californian accent mixed with a Southern twang and often used words like "dude" and "man" even in professional settings. Known for getting on everyone’s nerves and bad dancing.

Roscoe (Squeaky): A 10-year-old kid with a constantly runny nose and a very smart mouth~ especially while playing spades.

Dragonfly Jones( Scott )
A martial arts "expert" who was beaten up in nearly every appearance. He always seemed to owe money to a real martial artist who was actually a student of his named Kenji, who would then beat Dragonfly up when he refused to pay him.

Sheneneh Jenkins(Shekiela): A stereotypical, flashy "Detroit ghetto girl," she was owner/operator of Sheneneh's Sho' Nuff Hair Salon. Though Sheneneh was awkwardly tall and thick in build, she often characterized herself as a "la-a-a-dy." She's portrayed as being very mouthy, confrontational, and feisty. She lived in an apartment across the hallway from Martin's, and factored into many of the plots by picking fights with Gina, and especially Pam, out in the hallway.

Pamela James (Ashley), Gina's sassy, explosive best friend, who's consistently portrayed as Martin's antagonist, usually ridiculed by Martin as being an animal with bad breath and a bad nappy weave and ridiculing him for his short stature.

Gina Waters (Nicole), Martin's more level-headed better half, and later his wife. Gina works for a public-relations firm headed by Mr. Whitaker (played by Michael Colyar in a recurring role). Known for having a “Big Head” and her “Soup Cooler full lips”.

UNI Interview w/Nicole Lyricc

UNI's(Eva Andersen)
-First of all, I would like to say that I really, really appreciated your performance. I had brought along my younger sister through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, and the inspirational message of faith that you preached was something I was so glad I could bring her to hear--it touched both of us. It was such a special time that you came--right when I was having so much anxiety and getting so caught up with planning for my future!

I am on staff at the Northern Iowan (UNI's newspaper) and I really wanted to write an article covering your show. I have some pictures that I took that will be included. If you could take the time to answer a few questions, I would greatly appreciate it.

UNI-What has been your favorite part about performing to
different audiences?

NL-First of all I’d like to Thank you again for you gracious
and encouraging words and Thanks to Wise Decisions and the University of Northern Iowa for having me.
My favorite part about performing is to be able to use my testimony to inspire &
encourage other people. For me to inspire, goes beyond what
I do artistically meaning what I may say in the show but
also positionally, meaning the fact that I am having a show and
an opportunity to share my gifts with others. I believe
that when we stop focusing on what we don’t have and focus
more on the gifts God has given us to make a living as well
as to affect someone else in a positive way, we will find
life so much more fulfilling.

UNI- What is one thing that you have learned from speaking to
others?

NL-I am learning that people are really not that different
and it’s a thread of relevance that connects us all
together.

UNI- What message are you trying to send to your audiences?

NL-I would say my message would be, the best way to peace,
joy, freedom and reaching your dreams to develop a
relationship with the Lord.

UNI- Is there anything else you would like to say about your
experience performing at UNI?

NL- I am not professing to be the best artist but I work as
hard as I can, with hopes that the work I put out there will
be received and enjoyed. I had a great time, Thanks for
having me, we had a great turn out. Go Panthers!!:-)

Execrable-

2 Chronicles 7:14:
“if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

Where is the urgency in the People of God?

When God talks about his people, he’s talking about us! In 1 Peter 2:9 we're told that “His People” are the ones he called out of darkness in to the light; Is that not us, the believers are the peculiar people, the chosen generation! Which means we are not waiting on God, God is waiting on us to take the authority that was given back to us through Jesus Christ. It’s up to us who's been entrusted with the revelation, to use the power of the Spirit. We should not only pray to change our own circumstances, encourage our own families and friends but we are to conform to likeness of our Lord (Rom. 8:29) and take the posture of Christ, which is to intercede and also pray for the need of this world & this nation.

Do you know the same powerful Spirit that dwells inside of us is the same Spirit that raise Jesus from the dead, Split the Red sea, Healed the sick and that brought all of you and I out of darkness into his marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9)

We do not have to sit idly by waiting to see what will happen to change in the hearts of Leaders, with the Economy, Job Conditions, Housing Markets, Elections and etc. The Word so clearly says what we need to do as “His People”. Come together, get on one accord and PRAY! Humble ourselves turn from our wicked way and God will surely hear us, forgive and restore us and He will heal the land. The time is now people, what are we waiting on?

So are we willing and ready to believe God’s Word?

Yves Saint Laurent~Classic yet Revolutionary!

Yves Saint Laurent was the first Couture house to launch, in 1966, the modern concept of luxury
women’s prêt-à-porter, in a collection called ‘Rive Gauche’. It was followed in 1969 by a ‘Rive Gauche
men’s ready-to-wear line. The Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche boutiques were soon opened throughout
the world, allowing fashion-conscious working individuals to wear the Yves Saint Laurent designs.
This represented the first step in making luxury labels accessible to a wider public.

Be Encourage!!!

Psalm 23

A psalm of David.

1 The Lord is my shepherd;
I have all that I need.
2 He lets me rest in green meadows;
he leads me beside peaceful streams.
3 He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths,
bringing honor to his name.
4 Even when I walk
through the darkest valley,[a]
I will not be afraid,
for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff
protect and comfort me.
5 You prepare a feast for me
in the presence of my enemies.
You honor me by anointing my head with oil.
My cup overflows with blessings.
6 Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me
all the days of my life,
and I will live in the house of the Lord
forever.

Polluted Bottle Water!!

The two-year study was done by the Washington-based Environmental Working Group, an organization founded by scientists that advocates stricter regulation. It found the contaminants in bottled water purchased in nine states and Washington, D.C.The researchers identified those two brands as Sam's Choice sold by Wal-Mart and Acadia of Giant Food supermarkets.

The study's lab tests on 10 brands of bottled water detected 38 chemicals including bacteria, caffeine, the pain reliever acetaminophen, fertilizer, solvents, plastic-making chemicals and the radioactive element strontium.

The researchers recommend that people worried about water contaminants drink tap water with a carbon filter.

News X Fashion X WWD

CosmoGirl is Closing!

NEW YORK – Hearst Magazines is closing CosmoGirl magazine, the teen title it spun off from Cosmopolitan in 1999, with the December issue being the last. The subscriber base will be folded into fellow Hearst title Seventeen. Editor in chief Susan Schulz will be "staying on at Hearst to work on special projects," according to a company statement, and publisher Vicki Wellington will become the publisher of the new Food Network magazine, which appeared in the form of a test issue this month.

The company declined to comment on how many other employees would be affected -- the masthead lists 41 on the editorial side, two on the Web site, and about 33 on the business side -- but said all would have an opportunity to interview within the company.

Through October, CosmoGirl had 527 ad pages, down 15.5 percent from last year. (By contrast, Seventeen had 693 pages in that period, down 8.8 percent, and Teen Vogue had 919 pages, down 5.9 percent.) Newsstand was off 18 percent in the first half of the year, to an average of 302,800, and the total circulation was 1.4 million.

Back to School!!

I got the opportunity to go back to school... to Speak and Inspire!

High School, High School, you think you know everything! And really don't know NOTHING...well I didn't anyway...Lol!!

It's so important to me to motivate and touch young minds. We got the chance to have an open discussion about the Complexities of Life, How to better prepare for their futures, and the Sovereignty of God. Every time I get the chance to tell my testimony and look back on what God has done for me... how far He has brought me...I get encouraged myself to keep going further. It truly is a Blessing to be a Blessing to others.

Thanks Aaron

We had a GREAT time!

Marcus we LOVE you!!!

Showtime!!

My Travels were good!!!

We had a good show...I love diversity! And this show was truly diverse in the talent represented and the location. The Show was held at a Hair Salon/Vintage Store~Psalms 21. The eclecticism was high in color, art, style and surroundings but the best part was the Praise in the air...God got all the Glory! As the host I always try to set the stage for praise and positivity but when the Spirit moves...it takes over the entire atmosphere! I will even go as far to say performers may have came for the open mic with a song or poem in mind but everyone fell in line with the Spirit and the theme of true worship.

Big shot out to everyone in the Chicago Land area who came out and Ms. Rosa Richardson & Psalms 21!
